Nursery 2023 - 2024

Welcome to Nursery

We believe that a great education starts with Nursery. That is why we pride ourselves in offering an outstanding Nursery provision with wonderful learning opportunities to get children ready for school. This is possibly the first early years setting that your child will experience and we strive to make it full of exciting, new adventures and experiences. Here at Parklands, we welcome children after the term in which they turn three years old. This means that children can start at the beginning of each school term- September, January and after Easter. We offer a stimulating and discovery based curriculum where the children are at the forefront of their own learning. Across all areas, children will explore, learn and discover new skills to build a strong foundation for the start of their Parklands journey.

We are committed to supporting children to achieve, develop and have fun learning through play. Our Nursery class is taught by a fully qualified teacher alongside qualified teaching assistants who will care for your child. We aim to provide a wide variety of play experiences and learning opportunities to encourage language and develop play experiences. Through our themed weeks, the children will have access to rich experiences in their play where we encourage independence, resilience and cooperation. These are just a few of the values that we believe, will help your children grow into confident, life-long learners.

Our expert staff focus on an opportunity for pupils to explore and learn through a wide range of stimulating play. Within this creative, caring, fun and exciting environment, we teach children the initial building blocks for reading, using the foundation sounds of the Read Write Inc programme. This practice and repetition give children a head start in their learning journey. We encourage, model and teach children how to listen and use their manners. They learn our 3 school rules: Ready, Respectful & Safe as well as our school values.

Our Reception class is right next door to Nursery and both classes share an outdoor classroom and outdoor play area. This means that our staff work closely together enabling a smooth transition into Reception. Nursery children also go to the school hall for their dinner and enjoy eating with their friends as well as some of the Reception children.
