Curriculum Intent, Implementation and Impact

At Parklands Community Primary and Nursery School, our curriculum is firmly rooted in our vision of providing every child with strong foundations from which they can become successful, independent learners for life. Guided by our values of think, persist, collaborate we have designed a curriculum that is inspiring, ambitious and meaningful for all pupils.

The documents below provide an overview of each subject within the National Curriculum and demonstrate how learning is carefully planned and delivered across the school. Each subject document outlines:

Intent

What we want children to know, understand and be able to do by the time they leave Parklands. Our curriculum has been designed to develop both subject-specific knowledge and the personal characteristics that enable children to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Implementation

How we translate our curriculum vision into high-quality classroom practice. This includes the sequencing of knowledge and skills, teaching approaches, curriculum design, enrichment opportunities and the strategies used to ensure all children can achieve success.

Impact

How we evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum. We consider how well children remember and apply their learning, the progress they make over time, and how confidently they can use their knowledge and skills across different contexts.

Our subject leaders regularly review and refine their curriculum areas to ensure they remain ambitious, inclusive and relevant. Together, these curriculum documents demonstrate how learning progressively builds from the Early Years through to Year 6, enabling children to make connections, deepen their understanding and leave Parklands well prepared for the next stage of their education.
